A Christmas story, to be read each year, is a ritual for a child, and family. "Avry and Atreus Save Christmas" is a mystery, set in the Okanagan. Clues, ravens, and elves offering hot chocolate, at Gellatly Nut Farm, form a warm and inviting story to be read. The Marshmallow series is aimed at 6-11 year olds, although the beautiful illustrations will captivate a younger child. With my almost four year old grandson I condense the story and talk more about the illustrations. I can weave the story into simpler language. He has brought the books to be read, and I am skilled enough to fit it to his attention level. By six he will already be pulling this story off the shelves to be read. Holiday rituals turn Christmas into a magical time where some experiences are repeated yearly to bring comfort.
